Its Base

Sede de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Andalucía

Although the OFA held its first concert in Jaén, was first heard in the city of Úbeda, which has become its official base, specifically in the Auditorio del Hospital de Santiago.

This 16th century building was constructed by Diego de los Cobos, Bishop of Jaén, as a hospital for the poor and sick, as well as a Church, Pantheon and Palace, it is one of the projects by architect Andrés de Vandelvira.
This emblematic location has hosted important orchestras, conductors and soloists from the world scene in the “Ciudad de Úbeda” International Music and Dance Festival, which is integrated in the European Festival Association.

Úbeda, declared World Heritage City by the UNESCO, has warmly welcomed the Andalucia Philharmonic Orchestra (OFA) and has made available, for rehearsals, its Auditorium.

The availability of the Hospital de Santiago Auditorium as a permanent base is a great honour for the Orchestra.

Mention must be made of the support of the Ubeda Town Council, The Jaen Town Council, the Diputación Provincial de Jaén and the Junta de Andalucía.

Hospital de Santiago. Úbeda. Sede de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Andalucía“For Ubeda it is one more step in having in our city a resident orchestra which can contribute to the good name of the city and its Festival. The orchestra has demonstrated that, in its first year, is at the level it merits by the programmes it has produced, its quality and professionalism which we support and wish them great success”.

Diego Martínez Martínez. Director of the “Ciudad de Úbeda” Internacional Music and Dance Festival.
